why can't you choose to have replys shown below your message, like you can in email ?
say you write somethin to somebody. they respond to you. then you go hold up a second what did i write to them?
i guess a round about way is to look at sent mail. still, it'd be nice to see what you wrote to begin with. or am i crazy. well okay we all know i'm crazy, but... *grin*

I totally agree. A great suggestion.

I hardly use the Private Message feature for it's something I don't use unless I get messages from CL's or a wierdo but I only use the Private Quicknote feature :)

Post 4 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2012 2:12:28

i know this has come up before, about putting new features on t the private message systewm, but they never seem to get implamented.

Post 5 by laced-unlaced (Account disabled) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2012 8:00:51

yeah... i totally agree.

emails do it, and also most forums that i'm on have that feature.

To be fair to the admins, private mail systems that are not real email can be a pain in the ass to add features to. A proprietary messaging system doesn't have all the cool APIs which make adding features a lot easier and smoother. The reason Fakebook does this well is that at the same time it was developed, they also developed FBML or whatever they call it, their own extensible markup language, as well as their own APIs.
Great suggestions but if the admins don't do it, it's not because they don't care. A bit of a disclaimer: I obviously don't know the full detailia on this one since I have never seen the Zone's source code, so am not attempting to be pretentious here, just adding a bit of perspective.

as has been said before on other topics, do we want the zone to become like almost every other site, or can we, for once, appreciate it for its uniqueness and stop asking things to be implemented just cause 8 out of 10 other websites have them?

Post 8 by forereel (Just posting.) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2012 19:53:23

You know there is your sent messages, so no it is not under the message you send, but if you keep your sent messages you can look back on the last one you sent to the user. More work, but easy enough?

Post 9 by Thunderstorm (HotIndian!) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2012 21:13:50

no. not easy. I like my food getting fed by someone so,

Raaj.

Post 10 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Thursday, 30-Aug-2012 21:15:43

suppose that could work Wayne, provided the message is sent around the same time as you get a responce.

Post 11 by forereel (Just posting.) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 0:22:41

There dated, so you send out one and keep that one in your box until you get the response to it. It isn't the same, but works.

Post 12 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 9:21:22

I agree with Wayne's last post. that's what I do.

Post 13 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 10:30:43

OH it works, but still.
i'd pay premium to have a better private messaging system and o options on the boardds like viewing a list of all your subscribed topics.

Post 14 by chelslicious (like it or not, I'm gonna say what I mean. all the time.) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 10:59:43

well, just goes to show that you can't make everyone happy.

Post 15 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 11:02:06

you never can.

Post 16 by Blue Velvet (I've got the platinum golden silver bronze poster award.) on Friday, 31-Aug-2012 13:03:28

I still agree with John and think it would certainly add convenience if we could see the message we originally sent without having to back out of the reply and go to sent messages.

Post 17 by forereel (Just posting.) on Saturday, 01-Sep-2012 2:07:29

Yeah! Pay the premium you've got a right to ask for change, or is that (change?) Guess there spelled the same. Lol

Post 18 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 01-Sep-2012 8:41:21

so as a premium member, does it matter? do they listen more and change it up more for premium members?

Post 19 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Saturday, 01-Sep-2012 22:30:36

I honestly don't think so, though neither one of us can say for sure.

Post 20 by Shadow_Cat (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 02-Sep-2012 14:33:48

in my experience, it doesn't matter if it's a standard or premium member who makes the suggestion. Whether it's acted upon or not depends on if an admin is paying enough attention to the site, and has the time and/or ability to implement a given suggestion. Sometimes things users suggest are simply not possible to do. I have no idea whether this suggestion would be possible to implement or not. But I'll say what I said so often during my time as a CL. Don't count on it being done. That's just the unfortunate reality. The CL's simply can't make changes to the site, and the admins very often do not have the time or the inclination to do so.

Post 21 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 02-Sep-2012 16:25:13

And I have no experience, so.

Post 22 by TechnologyUser2012 (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 02-Sep-2012 18:17:49

I fail to understand why adding this feature is so important to some, but I hardly ever use the private messaging feature anyway so... if it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. Such as life, right?

Post 23 by forereel (Just posting.) on Sunday, 02-Sep-2012 19:46:54

No only a technical issue. Life is different. Lol

It really would be nice, but is possible now with work.

Post 24 by JH_Radio (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Sunday, 02-Sep-2012 23:49:48

Cl's do the day to day, admin's do the hard stuff, and well... hey its free and tha'ts good.
but thought i'd ask if paying people got more priblige, since after all they are paying members.

Post 25 by OceanDream (An Ocean of Thoughts) on Monday, 03-Sep-2012 13:10:53

Yes, we do have more privilages; in the form of additional features. Honestly, there is only so much VIP type treatment we can have before the standard members feel totally stomped on, and thus making the use of this site very uncomfortable for them. this place is supposed to be fun for all, with a bit of extra fun for the paid members. But standard members do have voices, and they deserve to be heard.
